Yup, time to get rid of that recalled Ikea Malm but for the life of me I couldn’t find the date stamp. A quick googling didn’t help either because it doesn’t really tell my what kind of stamp and there are no pictures of this stamp anywhere. At first I was looking for a label but feared it came off. But I found the stamp.
Mine was laser etched on the inside right panel on the very top side. it says “1207” which I will assume means December of 2007 so I fall within the time frame.
I wanted the full refund and the fine print of the recall states , “Once your merchandise reaches the store location, we will provide you with 1) a full refund if the chest or dresser was manufactured between January 1, 2002 and June 28, 2016; 2) a store credit for 50% of the original purchase price if the product was manufactured before January 2002; or 3) a $50 store credit if the date stamp is unidentifiable.” So I kept looking and I identified it! Off to Ikea we go.
Here’s the press release if you want more information about the recall. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/about_ikea/newsitem/062816-pr-chest-and-dressers.
Oh, I chose the email option to let them know about my recalled Malm for a free pickup. I totally assumed that it would take weeks. Our nearest Ikea is two hours away. But the next day I received instructions that I promptly filed away to look at later and a day after that I received a pickup notice for next week! Wow. I’m trying to contact them now to cancel my pickup because we’re headed to Ikea now for more curtains #daddydolist.
Did you get the full refund?
